The International Kung Fu Federation (IKF) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization which has been working since 1998 to develop the sport of KUNGFU worldwide as a unique team with unique rules. The IKF is an international governing body of the national and international kungfu and taichi organizations in the world and has been organizing world championships since 2003.
The IKF promotes the traditional kungfu worldwide as a unique team with unique rules and seeks to join the Olympic Games. The IKF observes the Olympic Movement Anti-Doping Code (“OMADC”) as prescribed by the IOC and other anti-doping codes by World Anti-Doping Committee (WADA) relevant in preserving the intrinsic value of the spirit of sport.
The IKF has sent a formal letter to the General Association of the International Sport Federations (GAISF) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to grant recognition to the sport of kungfu and the International Kung Fu Federation as the international governing body for the sport of kungfu. The IKF requested Kungfu Light Sanda discipline to be allowed to join the Olympic Games. Light Sanda system allows the athletes to compete with no risk of injury which takes into consideration male and female athletes.
The IKF seeks a unity, where all traditional kungfu styles are free from any form of prejudice. The IKF welcomes all kungfu and taichi masters to unity and seeks their cooperation in the international events, world and continental competitions. All the traditional kungfu and taichi organizations must be registered in the IKF and constitute their respective statutes in strict conformity with the principles of the IKF Rules and Regulations.
The goal of the International Kung Fu Federation is to protect the rights of the kungfu and taichi organizations, seek their coordination and create peace and friendship. The IKF promotes the principles of traditional kungfu, its philosophy, zen, development of techniques and ranking certification.
The IKF consults with and integrate, if necessary, the best practices and models of the IOC and other International Federations (“IFs”) of the Olympic Movement, and other Organizations with regard to the administration of the sport of kungfu.
The Rules and Regulations of the IKF is the fundamental and universal document upon which the administration of the sport of kungfu is based.
To attain the objects of Rules and Regulations, the IKF shall promote the following activities;
- World Kungfu Championships
- World Junior Kungfu Championships
- World Senior Kungfu Championships
- World University Kung Fu Championships
- World Military Kung Fu Championships
- Various international competitions
- International Referee Seminar and Refresher Course
- International Coach Training Course
- Research for the propagation and development of kungfu techniques
- Publication of necessary kungfu related material
The World and Continental Championships are held under the auspices of the IKF and organized by the host member organizations. The Continental Kungfu Championships are held with the approval and supervision of the IKF, and are organized by the host member organization selected by each continental federation.
